Our neighborhood
Our hotel is located just next to the Cour St Emilion (Saint Emilion’s Court) in the Bercy Village neighborhood, a part of Paris that many tourists never discover.
St Emilion’s Court is lined with historical stone warehouses first constructed in 1662 as wine-storing facilities for the wine arriving in Paris by boat. Today these beautiful stone buildings are filled with restaurants and boutiques, conveniently located by office buildings and the nearby Ministere des Finances.
I chose a hotel in this neighborhood, because it is close to the modern 14 subway line, which is electric (so not impacted by any strikes!), very fast, and has only few stops, allowing you to reach the very center of Paris in just a few minutes.
It’s also less busy and crowded, quieter than many neighborhoods, and offers easy access for tour buses, as it’s just inside the “périphérique” (loop, or beltway).
Our Restaurant
Le Coupe Chou is a charming restaurant located in the Latin Quarter on the left bank of the Seine, and contains a series of small, warm and friendly rooms, making you feel right at home (the building was originally four small homes, built in the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries).
I find this a wonderful restaurant for classic, old-school French food, where you can find authentic recipes served with rustic elegance, and I know you will enjoy both the food and the atmosphere!
Our Hotels
I have often heard family members, guests, and clients complain about hotels in Paris, because they felt like the rooms were tiny compared with the price they paid.
It’s true that many hotels were retro-fitted into historical buildings, so they simply just do not have the same volumes that Americans are used to. And, of course, Paris is the most visited city in the world, and hotels are at premium price points. You cannot reserve a hotel on the cheaper end of the spectrum and expect the comfort of American hotels.
The Pullman Hotel is an international brand, built to their specifications, with room sizes and comfort (air-conditioning!) that you are sure to expect and appreciate. However, its cost is higher than the other option which is located just across the street: Aparthotel Adagio Paris Bercy Village.
The Aparthotel Adagio will be more budget and student friendly, smaller more basic rooms, but still with air-conditioning!
